Yarnton partners with training churches and training providers to offer grants at Foundation and Advanced levels. A third category of Enabling grants is described below. This page sets out the pathways and how to apply - please read this entire section carefully before applying.
Please read our Grants page carefully before applying .
Applications are normally made by individuals training for gospel ministry within churches or networks.
Foundation programme grants support full-time Ministry Apprentices or Associates in local churches.
Advanced programme grants support workers preparing for set-apart gospel ministry through either
a) Leader-in-Trainer roles or
b) Residential or full-time theological studies.
A third category of 'Enabling' grants is available for exceptional people able to make a significant contribution to gospel training culture and/or capacity. Please email nick@yarntontrust.org for further details on this pathway.

Foundation training usually runs for 2 years (exceptionally 1 year), and is focused on exploring gifts and growing character in the context of the local church. It is with the expectation that the significant majority will go on to become full-time workers in local churches.
Applicants and their Training Churches must read our Principles of Grant-making at Foundation level prior to submitting an application (click).
Please see other important requirements to support any trainee's application for funding under 'Important Steps by 30th June 2026' below.
This and the Advanced pathways are delivered in partnership with recognised training providers.

Advanced training is either:
(a) a full-time Leader-in-Training role for 3 or 4 years in partnership with an external training provider; or
(b) residential and/or full-time theological studies for 3 or 4 years
The terminology Leader-in-Training embraces men and women, reflecting complementarian principles.
Applicants and their Training or Sending Church must read our Principles of Grant-making at Advanced level prior to submitting an application (click).
Please see other important requirements to support any trainee's application for funding under 'Important Steps by 30th June 2026' below.
The deadline for receipt of all forms to be considered for funding in the 2026/27 year is 30th June 2026:
The application process is as follows:
All individual applicants and their Training or Sending Church must first read our Grant-making Principles - confirming so is a condition of applying for a grant. These are the links for the respective programmes:
a. Foundation Programme Grant-making Principles
b. Advanced Programme Grant-making Principles
All Training Churches must also complete a Church Training Programme questionnaire. These are the links for the respective programmes:
Foundation Church Training Programme questionnaire
Advanced Church Training Programme questionnaire for Leader-in-Training
All Sending Churches, i.e., those supporting a trainee though residential or full-time theological studies, must complete a personal reference form for them, available here
When they are ready, individuals must then complete and submit a 2026/27 grant application form by clicking here.
Training grant applications and associated Church Training Programme questionnaires will all be assessed by trustees shortly after the deadline of 30th June.
We aim then to communicate grant decisions in early August.
Successful applicants will then be required to provide personal bank account details using a secure form by late August.
We will aim to pay first of three grant instalments in late September, followed by payments in or around the new year, with the final payment in March 2027.
In the meantime, please direct any questions or queries to the Implementation Director at nick@yarntontrust.org.
