Yarnton awards three types of grant:
Support for individuals training full-time in Apprenticeship, Associate or similar roles in a local church in partnership with an external training provider, where the intention and expectation is a first step in training for full-time gospel work in a local church, exercising a significant word ministry.
Support for individuals training for full-time gospel work in a local church, exercising a significant word ministry, through one of two routes:
(1) full-time Leader in Training or similar roles in one or more local churches in partnership with an external training provider, or
(2) full-time residential theological study
Support for individuals who are making a positive impact in developing a healthy training culture in local churches or networks of churches
Yarnton accepts applications only from individuals
Applications and supporting documentation must be submitted by 30th June 2026
For Foundation and Advanced training grants, this will be from individuals to support them through their training
For enabling grants, this will be from individuals seeking support for their roles in enabling training culture
For each type of grant, the trust has established a number of principles for awarding grants
This is to ensure equity and transparency in grant funding
For Foundation and Advanced training grants, it is also to ensure that support is directed to those training to be full-time gospel workers, and that the training they are receiving is rigorous
For Enabling grants, it is to ensure that support is directed to those making the greatest impact in enabling training culture
It is not the objective of the Trust to make grants to the full capacity of funds available unless there are high quality candidates to support. Whilst a primary goal of the Trust is to grow the numbers training for gospel ministry, an equally important commitment is to ensure the quality of those being trained and the rigour of their training
It is imperative before applying for a grant that the relevant Principles for Awarding Grants is read in detail - all of these are available under the relevant Application page of the website
The deadline for all grant applications for 2026/27 is 30th June 2026
We will aim to communicate grant decisions in early August, at which point we will ask grantees to provide banking details
We will aim to pay grants in three instalments in September, and January and April 2027
Grants can be paid directly to the individual or to their training church if appropriate
